Community of Practice

‘[A Community of Practice] is a group of people who share a concern, a set of problems, or a passion about a topic, and who deepen their knowledge and expertise in this area by interacting on an ongoing basis’.

Wenger et al., 2002

Community of Practice (CoP)

Inspired by this definition, the MOVING Community of Practice takes the practical form of  23 regional multi-actor platform (MAPs) and one European-level multi-actor platform (EU MAP), bringing together stakeholders from science, society and policy spheres, to engage on relevant topics for the community and the project as a whole.

This Community of Practice on Mountain Value Chains will be the main forum for exchanging ideas and experiences, for co-learning and co-creating knowledge together with relevant stakeholders from across the EU.

It will build on the regional Multi-Actor Platforms (MaP), established in each of the 23 Reference Regions, connecting research, policy and civil society actors. To ensure that all voices are heard and are taken into account, the CoP is developed as a nested structure that allows for different levels of interaction within the project and especially within the regional MAPs, keeping these open to any interested external actor from mountain areas.

  • Build a long-lasting community with MOVING stakeholders that is recognised as an important forum for issues around mountain value chains;
  • Foster the exchange of knowledge and experience that enhances expertise on mountain value chains;
  • Co-create and validate key research outputs and results delivered by MOVING.
