Every year, the European Commission co-finances communication campaigns and events to promote high quality EU agri-food products in Europe and worldwide. This investment contributes to the Farm to Fork strategy and Europe’s political priorities for the 2019-2024 period.

In 2023, €185.9 million have been allocated to promote agri-food products. The official launch for the call of grants will be on February 2 and an Info Day will take place in Brussels, Belgium (1-2 February 2023), to explain the criteria for eligibility, funded actions and types of partnership.

What does this call finance?

In 2023, EU Promotion calls will allocate €28 million to fund campaigns and events informing EU and global consumers of the EU quality schemes as labels such as geographical indications or organic products. Additional €36 million will be earmarked for campaigns and events promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and 19 million will support the promotion of fresh fruit and vegetables.

The EU Promotion calls can be used to promote the outputs of mountain agri-food value chains. For instance, they can promote mountain products listed as part of the EU Optional Quality Term “mountain product” or other geographical indications.

In this sense, MOVING organised in November 2022 its second EU MAP webinar on the European Quality Schemes and their implications in the mountains value chains All recordings, presentations and the highlights report is available.

Who is it for and how can mountain actors participate into it?

There are two types of calls under the Promotion calls for agri-food products: simple programmes and multi-programmes. Eligibility conditions vary between the two and can be found here. In addition, the European Commission has developed a step-by-step guide on how to apply to these calls and the most common mistakes.

Examples of funded actions

Not sure yet if this opportunity might make sense to you? The European Commission has prepared an interactive map with funded campaigns and events. You can filter funded actions by type of product, geographical indicators, countries and much more.
